Returning to the Yard for a second time,  The Buffalo Skinners' music is painted vividly across a broad canvas, using a palette that draws easily from traditional folk and rock’n’roll.

Formed in Brighton, Normanton Street are the Yard's favourite soul/hip-hop band with a stunning front line featuring Ned, Nicholson & Phoebe

In 2015, Cate Ferris came to the Yard with her mezmerizing performance. A few years on, we're looking forward to seeing her just as much. Don't miss out on this one!

The Story...

Music in the Yard sprung out of appreciating

a beautiful space around us, and having a young family and a love of

live music, especially the kind people can join in with.

We called it 'Summer Drum & Fun' in the late 90s, because that's what it was and it

made sense at the time. Not much more

elaborate than an easy going family party with a few drinks,

some memorable samba moments, carpets of

sequins and scraps of

torn paper

in the grass.

As the party grew in size and

spirit, musicians wanted a stage, guests wanted more beer and

everyone needed more room for dancing. So we moved over to the Yard in 2003, which marks the real birth of Music in the Yard.

The barn doors were opened, a stage was made, musicians

started piling in and an order was placed

at the local brewery.

We soon found ourselves being recognised as a known local event, especially after 2007 when we and over

1500 revellers commemorated the

quattrocentenery - 400 years since

the enclosures riots in Cotesbach.

The sun alwasy seems to shine for us, or is it that we choose to love the weather,

whatever.
